主题:Engineering Design and Reliability
主讲:Xiaoping Du
内容概述:
Engineering design is the process of devising a system, component, or process to meet desired needs. It involves decision-making where the basic science and mathematics and engineering sciences are applied to convert resources optimally to meet a stated objective. This presentation discusses the new research trend in engineering design, including systems design and value-driven design. Given that uncertainty quantification is a critical component in the two new areas and that reliability methodologies are key to uncertainty quantification, the recent advances in reliability-based design are also discussed. The development of time-dependent reliability methodologies, which are crucial to systems design and value-driven design, are especially emphasized.
